The seventh edition of tourismA, the event dedicated to archaeology and cultural tourism organised by Archeologia Viva (Giunti Editore), took place from 17 to 19 December at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Florence, and hosted conferences focusing on the enhancement of cultural heritage.

These three days proved to be a precious moment for our team, which was present at the fair with a stand, to introduce the project to the general public and to tell specialists and non-specialists alike about the methodology used, the themes investigated, and the future objectives of our project, including making the Byzantine heritage known and appreciated by local communities, and providing useful tools for primary and secondary school teachers to teach about these 500 years of our history.

As part of the busy programme of meetings organised, on Saturday 19 December we were guests at the XVII NATIONAL MEETING OF LIVE ARCHAEOLOGY organised by Piero Pruneti. Prof. Arthur explained the motivations behind the project “The Byzantine Heritage of Southern Italy”, and the ongoing research with the lecture “The Byzantines in Southern Italy: a long history, a heritage to be discovered“.
